What is Teru teru bozu?

Teru teru bōzu (Japanese: てるてる坊主; "shiny-shiny Buddhist priest"^[1]) is a little traditional hand-made doll made of white paper or cloth that Japanese farmers began hanging outside of their window by a string. This amulet is supposed to have magical powers to bring good weather and to stop or prevent a rainy day. "Teru" is a Japanese verb which describes sunshine, and a "bōzu" is a Buddhist monk (compare the word bonze), or in modern slang, "bald-headed."

Nattō (なっとう or 納豆 ^?) is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans, popular especially for breakfast. As a rich source of protein, nattō and the soybean paste miso formed a vital source of nutrition in feudal Japan. For some, nattō can be an acquired taste due to its powerful smell, strong flavor, and sticky consistency. In Japan nattō is most popular in the eastern regions, including Kantō, Tōhoku, and Hokkaido.

Actually, Natto is very dericious!!

Kagura (神楽, かぐら, "god-entertainment") is a Japanese word referring to a specific type of Shinto theatrical dance -- with roots arguably predating those of Noh. Once strictly a ceremonial art derived from kami'gakari (神懸, かみがかり, "oracular divination") and chinkon (鎮魂, ちんこん, "spirit pacification"), Kagura has evolved in many directions over the span of a millennium. Today it is very much a living tradition, with rituals tied to the rhythms of the agricultural calendar, as well as vibrant Kabuki-esque theatre, thriving primarily in parts of Shimane prefecture, and urban centers such as Hiroshima. ^[1]

It calls "Hinameguri", and detail is below. 

Take the opportunity to visit this world-famous "Island of Gods" at the best time with its beautiful cherry blossoms. See private antique doll displays at over 30 locations including historical Japanese residences which are only open to the public during this festival.

English speaking volunteers will help you organize your visit at the Doll Festival Information Center in Omotesando Shopping Arcade (Info Omotesando).

We welcome you to the international Hina Doll Festival in Miyajima.

Hina Doll Festival 2006

Discover the beautiful Hina doll heirlooms, and learn about the significance of the festival for Japanese girls.

Private antique dolls are on display at over 30 locations throughout Miyajima.

How to get there...

Get a free event map and directions from English speaking volunteers at Miyajima-guchi ferry terminal during the event. You will find them wearing "May I help?" armbands. You can orgnize your visit with their help at the Doll Festival Information Center in Omotesando Shopping Arcade.

A ticket is required for the four main exhibition sites. Get a passport ticket at the pier or at the four main sites.

With this ticket you can see the dolls at the four main sites:

Miyajima History and Folklore Museum (English-speaking guides)

This museum is in a 170 year-old merchant house. It contains many interesting folkloric exhibits.

Daishoin Temple

This is the oldest temple in Miyajima, with lots of attractive Buddhist pavillions and statues. The 14th Dalai Lama visited this temple to celebrate its 1200th year in 2006. Apart from the Hina doll exhibit, the Japanese culture workshop / International Cafe and the spring tea ceremony are also located here.

Yamanaka House

This historical residence is open to the public for the first time this year during Hina Doll Festival.

Konishi House

The Konishi family once brewed sacred sake (rice wine), dedicated to the gods of Itsukushima Shrine.

Spring Tea Ceremony

Experience an exclusive tea ceremony in the atmospheric Japanese tea room in Daishoin Temple. The room is decorated especially for the Hina Doll Festival, and has a lovely Japanese garden outside. Enjoy green tea and spring sweets served according to age-old ritual, with English explanation.

i really like her songs, its like folk song. i wish i can play the guitar like her.

Do you know about White Day?

In Japan, Valentine's Day is observed by females who present chocolate gifts (either store-bought or handmade), usually to a male, as an expression of love. The handmade chocolate is usually preferred by the receiver, because it is a sign that the receiving male is the girl's "only one". On White Day, the converse happens: males who received a "honmei-choco" [chocolate of love] or "giri-choco" [courtesy chocolate] on Valentine's Day are expected to return the favor by giving gifts, usually more expensive. Traditionally, popular White Day gifts are cookies, jewellery, white chocolate, and marshmallows. Sometimes the term sanbai gaeshi (literally, "thrice the return") is used to describe the generally recited rule that the return gift should be two to three times the cost of the Valentine's gift.^[2]

How have you been? Unfortunietly its rainy which i hate.

There are not so many customer today, It was packed last night though.

Anyway Do you know Hanami? It is japanese custom of spring season.

People go and see Cherry blossam, we ususally bring some foods and drinks at below of the trees and then have some parties!

If you wanna enjoy the things, you should come japan around april! you will be able to see beautiful view of japan!

Well as you know I have been doing job huntting for after graduated.

Its not going great so far because of this deperssion.

Anyway I was suprised today when i got here.

Because so many things were changed since i left.

Hisa made new sighns and systems! its really great to have new things! cause it proves me we are developing for custermers satisfactions!

hope we can do more things for our companies!! (such as release new informations, to get know better about customers and so on)

It's a girl's event in Japan.

The Japanese Doll Festival (雛祭り ,Hina-matsuri^?), or Girls' Day, is held on March 3, the third day of the third month. Platforms with a red hi-mōsen are used to display a set of ornamental dolls (雛人形 ,hina-ningyō^?) representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.
